Metal spinning forms a flat disc into a hollow, round shape without cutting it. The blank is clamped against a mandrel that carries the finished profile, the assembly rotates, and a roller presses the metal progressively onto the mandrel until it takes the shape. The result is a one-piece cone, dome, bowl or cylinder, with no weld and no joint — the way lamp shades, dished ends, planters and decorative domes have been made for a century, now driven by a program so every piece is the same.

What gets spun

  • Lighting components — shades, reflectors, cones and canopies in aluminium, brass and stainless steel.
  • Dished ends, cones and reducers for small vessels, hoppers and ducting.
  • Architectural elements — domes, finials, planters, bollard tops and decorative caps.
  • Cookware, urns and hospitality ware in stainless steel and copper.

Why spin rather than fabricate

A fabricated cone has a seam; a spun cone does not. There is no weld to grind and polish, no distortion from heat, and the metal is work-hardened into shape, so the part is stiffer than a rolled and welded equivalent. Tooling is a single mandrel rather than a matched die set, which keeps the cost of a new shape low and makes short runs and one-off architectural pieces practical. The CNC program repeats the roller path exactly, so a batch matches piece for piece.

Spun parts feed straight into our polishing, PVD and fabrication shops, so a shade can be spun, mirror-polished and coated in gold under one roof.

From your profile to a spun part

  1. Send the profile — a section drawing or a sample — with the material, thickness and quantity.
  2. We confirm feasibility, the mandrel and whether trimming, beading or a rolled edge is needed.
  3. Blanks are cut, spun, trimmed and inspected against the profile; the first piece is approved before the run.
  4. Parts are packed — or polished, bead finished or PVD-coated in the same order.

الأسئلة الشائعة

01Which shapes can be spun?
Any shape that is round about an axis and opens outward or straight — cones, domes, hemispheres, cylinders, bowls and flanged forms. Re-entrant shapes are discussed against the mandrel design.
02Which materials can be spun?
Aluminium, stainless steel, copper and brass in sheet gauges. Material and thickness are confirmed against the profile because deep or steep forms need a ductile grade.
03Do you need to make a tool for each shape?
A mandrel is needed for each new profile. It is a single, simple tool compared with a press die, so new shapes are practical for short runs; existing mandrels are reused for repeat work.
04Is a spun part as smooth as a pressed one?
Spinning leaves fine roller marks that are removed by polishing where the surface is visible. Parts that will be mirror-polished or PVD-coated are finished in our own shop.
05Can spun parts be welded into an assembly?
Yes. Spun cones and domes are routinely welded to cylinders, flanges and frames in our fabrication shop, and the whole assembly is finished together.
