Coil-to-coil punching turns a plain coil into a perforated one. The strip is fed from a decoiler through a CNC punch press, the hole pattern is punched continuously as the strip advances, and the perforated material is re-wound on the other side. Nothing is handled as individual sheets, so very long runs of perforated strip — for ceilings, filters, screens and profiles — are produced at a steady rate with the pattern registered along the whole length.

What gets punched from coil

  • Perforated strip for roll-formed ceiling panels, baffles and acoustic linings.
  • Screen and filter material in galvanised and aluminium for HVAC and industrial use.
  • Thin stainless steel perforated strip for architectural and hygienic applications.
  • Feedstock for our own cut-to-length and bending lines when a project needs perforated sheet in quantity.

Why punch coil rather than sheets

Sheet-to-sheet punching loads, clamps and unloads one sheet at a time. Coil-to-coil punching does none of that; the material moves continuously and the press runs at its own pace. For a long perforated run the difference is large, and the pattern is continuous along the strip rather than restarting at every sheet edge. The perforated coil can then be cut to length here, roll-formed by you, or delivered as coil.

The line handles the thin gauges that perforated ceilings, screens and filters are made from; heavier perforated plate goes to the sheet-to-sheet punch or the laser.

Capacities

Machine limits by material, as published in the Hidayath Metal Industries company profile. Confirm your material, dimensions and quantity on enquiry.

Galvanised sheet

  • Thickness up to 1.2 mm
  • Width up to 1250 mm

Aluminium

  • Thickness up to 1.2 mm
  • Width up to 1250 mm

Stainless steel

  • Thickness up to 0.5 mm
  • Width up to 1250 mm

From your pattern to perforated coil

  1. Send the hole pattern — size, pitch, arrangement and margin — and the strip width, material and quantity.
  2. We confirm the tooling, the material and whether the run is delivered as coil or cut to length.
  3. The coil is punched continuously and re-wound; pattern registration and hole quality are checked along the run.
  4. Perforated coil is strapped and delivered, or cut to length and passed on to bending or finishing in the same order.

الأسئلة الشائعة

01What is the difference between this and CNC punching?
The material. CNC punching works sheet by sheet; coil-to-coil punching feeds strip continuously from a decoiler and re-winds it. For long perforated runs the coil line is faster and the pattern is continuous.
02Which materials and gauges can be run?
Galvanised sheet, aluminium and thin stainless steel strip within the limits shown above. Heavier material is punched sheet to sheet or laser cut.
03Can the perforated coil be cut to length afterwards?
Yes. Our cut-to-length lines take the perforated coil and shear it into flat sheets at the length you need, so you can receive coil or sheet as your process requires.
04Which hole patterns are available?
Round, square and slotted holes in the usual staggered and straight arrangements are tooled. A special pattern is discussed against the tooling required and the run length.
05Is there a minimum quantity?
The line is intended for long runs. Small quantities are usually better served by sheet-to-sheet punching or laser perforation, and we say so when you send the enquiry.
