Antique finish stainless steel is sheet whose surface has been chemically aged to carry the mottling, patina and colour drift of old metal on a modern stainless, brass or copper substrate. It belongs on feature walls, cladding, furniture and art in hotels, shops and homes.

About this finish
Old brass, copper and iron age unevenly: they darken, bloom green or rust in patches, and the pattern depends on where water sat and air moved. The antique range reproduces that on new sheet. The group starts from stainless steel of any grade and base finish, from PVD coloured sheet in gold, bronze, copper, black, blue, purple, pink or green, or from brass and bronze, then treats the surface so the tone breaks into clouds, streaks and speckles. The aging is worked into the surface, not printed, so no two sheets repeat exactly.
The range runs from quiet to dramatic:
- Brushed shades 511 to 522 and 901 to 918: an even vertical grain in bronze, olive, grey and dark brown, the calmest of the family
- Brass Terra, Mossy Brass and Labra Cloudy Brass: russet, gold and near-black mottling over a brass tone
- Brass Ocean and Copper Ocean: turquoise verdigris breaking over brass or copper red
- Celestial Rust and Stonewashed: corten-like orange rust, or a pale grey wash
- Etched Lattice on brass or corten tones: a geometric lattice etched into the patinated surface
Specify from a sample and treat the sample as indicative. On a wall of many panels the mottling differs from sheet to sheet; that variation is the point, but agree it before the order by viewing several sheets from one batch side by side. Two facts sit under the drama: a stainless-based antique sheet keeps the corrosion resistance of its grade, so 316 for coastal or wet sites, and the aged tones are a surface treatment, so a scratch shows fresh metal underneath, not a matching patina.

Care & maintenance
Dust with a dry soft cloth and, when needed, wipe with warm water and a little neutral detergent, then rinse and dry. Do not use bleach, chloride cleaners, acidic descalers, metal polish or abrasive pads: they lift the patina unevenly and leave a bright patch that cannot be blended back in. On the brushed shades, wipe along the grain.
Indoors the surface needs little beyond that. Outside, treat the substrate as any exterior stainless, 316 in Jeddah and Dammam, and ask whether the particular finish is recommended for exterior exposure before ordering.

- No. The aging is worked into each sheet, so the mottling and colour drift vary from panel to panel within the same finish. Order from one batch, view several sheets together and agree the acceptable range before production.

- It is a surface treatment that gives the look of rust or verdigris on stainless steel, brass or copper. The substrate is not corroding, so a stainless-based sheet keeps the corrosion behaviour of its grade and does not shed rust onto surfaces below.
- 03Which grade of stainless steel is used for antique finishes?
- Any grade, according to the group, on any base finish. Choose the grade for the site, not the look: 304 inland, 316 for coastal, poolside or wet areas, then pick the antique finish on top.
