Mirror finish stainless steel

A mirror finish starts from cold-rolled sheet and removes the surface in steps: coarse abrasives take out rolling marks, finer ones remove the scratches of the step before, and a final buffing pass leaves a surface with no direction to it. The group's page describes the route as fine polishing followed by a chemical treatment. ASTM A480 lists the fully reflective, non-directional polish as the No. 8 finish; EN 10088-2 covers bright polished routes under 2P.

Because there is no grain, every mark shows: fingerprints, water spots, protective-film adhesive and the smallest cross-scratch. This decides where it goes: on surfaces people look at but rarely touch, such as lift car walls above handrail height, ceiling panels, column heads, reveals and trim, and it goes where a designer wants a room to read as larger. The page names elevators, wall panels, ceilings and decorative accents, and places the finish in luxury interiors, retail and architectural projects. Flatness matters more than on any other finish; a mirror sheet shows oil-canning that a brushed one hides, so specify the thickness and backing with the fabricator.

The page states grades 201, 304 and 316. The group's compatibility list puts mirror under PVD colour, etching, embossing, Plaid, vibration and bead-blast: the mirror sheet is the bright base and those processes are added over it. The PVD swatches shown are gold, rose gold, black, copper, bronze, blue, green, pink and purple; the colour is a thin, hard ceramic layer, and the reflection underneath stays glass-like.

Wipe with a soft microfibre cloth and warm water with a little mild detergent, then rinse and dry immediately so no water spots form; in Riyadh, where the water is hard, drying is the step that matters. Use a glass cleaner without ammonia for fingerprints. Never use scouring pads, powders, steel wool or chloride cleaners such as bleach; a single abrasive wipe leaves a permanent scratch, and chlorides pit the steel. On PVD-coloured mirror, skip metal polishes, which cut through the thin colour layer. Leave the protective film on until final clean.
