Emboss etch stainless steel

The sheet goes through two operations. Embossing first: the flat sheet passes between patterned rolls under pressure, which leaves a texture in relief across the whole face, leather grain or linen weave being the two the group shows. Etching second: a resist carrying the artwork is applied over that textured face and the open areas are dissolved back to a smooth, slightly recessed plane. The etched figure therefore sits as a smooth line drawing on a textured field, and the two read against each other in raking light.

Close up, the embossed ground is the busier surface and the etched pattern the calmer one, the reverse of a plain etched sheet where the etch is the matt element. At a distance the relief softens and the pattern dominates. The embossed texture also breaks up reflections and fingerprints, which is part of why the page places this finish on lift doors and cladding at hand height.

The page lists the finish in every PVD colour the group runs: Gold, Bronze, Copper and Black, plus Blue, Purple, Pink and Green. PVD is a thin hard ceramic layer deposited on the finished sheet, so the colour follows both textures. The group rates the finish for indoor, outdoor and seaside placement; outdoors the grade does the corrosion work, so 316 within reach of coastal air in Jeddah or Dammam.

Warm water, a mild detergent and a soft cloth, then rinse and dry. The embossed relief holds dust in its low points, so rinse rather than rub, and work a soft brush into the texture if dirt has settled. No bleach, no chloride cleaners, no abrasive pads; on PVD-coloured panels avoid solvents as well.
