Obraz perforation turns an image into holes whose size varies across the sheet, so the panel reads as a picture from a distance and as perforated metal close up. Light through the holes makes the image; no ink, paint or laminate is used.

About this finish
Obraz is the group's name for image perforation. The tonal values of a source picture are mapped to hole diameters, so each point on the sheet carries a hole sized to the brightness of the picture at that point. The eye merges the holes at a distance in the same way it reads a halftone print, except that here the dots are open holes in metal and the tone comes from whatever is behind the panel: sky, a backlit box, a wall. Depending on how the panel is lit, the larger holes read as the light or as the dark tones of the picture.
The page is explicit that nothing is printed, painted or laminated: the metal is the image. That has practical consequences. There is no surface layer to weather, so the picture lasts as long as the sheet; it can be seen from both faces, mirrored; and it changes with the light through the day.
The group perforates Obraz panels in stainless steel, aluminium and galvanised iron, in any grade, on mill, 2B, brush, vibration, mirror or bead-blast substrates, with PVD colour or an antique finish over the top. The pattern is generated from the client's image, so every panel set is a one-off.
At specification, agree three things from a sample: the viewing distance the image is designed for, the smallest hole the sheet thickness allows, and the margin left unperforated for fixing. Resolution is set by hole pitch; a picture designed to read across a plaza looks coarse at arm's length, and that is normal.

Care & maintenance
Wash with water and mild detergent using a soft brush or cloth, rinse and dry. The image is carried by the holes, so keep them clear: dust and salt collect on the hole edges and on the back face, and on an external panel both faces need access. On a brushed substrate wipe with the grain between the holes.
- Do not use bleach or chloride-based cleaners on stainless steel.
- Do not use abrasive pads; they scratch the base finish and blur the hole edges that define the picture.
- PVD colour is a thin layer and is thinnest on the hole edges; keep to soft cloths there.
