Embossed stainless steel sheet

The sheet is fed between a pair of heavy rolls, one of them engraved with the pattern, and the metal is pressed into the engraving as it passes. Nothing is added or removed: the texture is the sheet itself, displaced. The operator sets roll pressure, line speed and the entry thickness for each job, and the page notes that thinner sheet takes the pattern more deeply, because there is less metal resisting the roll. The relief also raises the sheet's stiffness for a given thickness, which is why embossed panels sit flatter on a lift wall than plain sheet of the same gauge.

• 5WL: a fine, close diamond relief that reads as a shimmer on a bright sheet. Reverse 5WL is the same roll seen from the other face, small recessed ovals.
• 6WL: a larger diamond relief with more shadow at arm's length. Reverse 6WL shows the recessed side.
• Leather: an irregular pebbled grain, no repeat visible at panel scale.
• Linen: a very fine woven dot texture, close to matt in most light.

Texture changes how a stainless surface behaves in use. Fingerprints and light scratches are lost in the relief, reflections are broken up, and a bright sheet can be used at hand height without the marks a mirror finish shows. The page names grades 201, 304 and 316 (all covered by ASTM A240 and EN 10088-1); choose 304 for dry interiors, 316 for anything near coastal air in Jeddah or Dammam, and treat 201 as an interior grade. The page does not state where the finish may be placed, so the location row is left open for the project to decide.

Wash with warm water and a mild detergent on a soft cloth or sponge, rinse and dry. The relief traps dust in its low points; a soft brush clears it where a cloth glides over. No bleach, no chloride cleaners, no abrasive pads or wire wool, which flatten the high points and leave grey streaks.

Externally the texture does not change the grade's needs: 316 near the coast and a periodic rinse to lift salt and dust out of the pattern.
