Perforated stainless steel sheet is flat sheet punched with a regular pattern of holes, round, square or oval, so it passes air and light while still reading as a solid metal surface. It is used for facades, ceilings, partitions, cladding, sunshades and ventilation panels.

About this finish
The holes are punched through the sheet at a set pitch and arrangement, most often a staggered grid, which is what gives perforated metal its even, screen-like look. The open area, the ratio of hole to solid, decides how much light and air pass and how transparent the panel looks against a bright background: a small hole at a close pitch reads as a fine mesh, a large hole at a wide pitch as a grille.
The group lists round, square and oval hole shapes, with other shapes on request, and perforates stainless steel, aluminium, galvanised iron and mild steel. On stainless the base surface can be brush, mirror, vibration, bead-blast or 2B, and the finished sheet can be PVD coloured or given an antique finish. The listed colours are black, blue, bronze, copper, gold, green, pink and purple.
Two things to settle at specification: the pattern (hole size, pitch and arrangement) and the margin, the unperforated border that lets the panel be folded, framed or fixed without cutting through holes. Punching leaves a slight burr on the exit side; state which face is seen so the burr is turned away or dressed.
Outdoors a perforated panel has far more edge than a plain sheet, and every hole edge is a cut surface. On 304 in Jeddah or Dammam this is where tea staining starts, so specify 316 for coastal facades and sunshades, and 304 for conditioned interiors.

Care & maintenance
Wash with water and mild detergent using a soft brush or cloth, then rinse and dry. Dust and salt collect on the hole edges and on the back face, so on an external panel plan access to both faces. On a brushed or hairline substrate wipe with the grain between the holes.
- Do not use bleach or chloride-based cleaners on stainless steel.
- Do not use abrasive pads; they scratch the base finish and round over the hole edges.
- PVD colour is a thin layer and is thinnest on the hole edges; keep to soft cloths there.
