Stainless Steel Pipe Polishing

Centreless polishing of stainless steel pipe and tube — brushed, satin and mirror finishes along the full length, for handrails, balustrades, furniture and hygienic lines.

Where machine limits are shown they come from the company profile; your material, dimensions and quantity are confirmed on enquiry — you get the measured answer, not an estimate.

Pipe polishing runs the tube lengthwise through a series of abrasive belts and wheels that surround it, so the whole circumference is finished evenly along the full length. The finish is built up in stages, from a cutting grit that removes mill scale and weld seam to the final belt that sets the grain, or to buffing for a mirror. A handrail, a balustrade post or a hygienic line comes out with one continuous finish and no polished patch where a hand tool stopped.

What gets pipe-polished

  • Handrail and balustrade tube in brushed and mirror stainless steel for buildings, malls and stations.
  • Furniture and display tube — table frames, shelving, rails and fixtures.
  • Hygienic process tube for food, beverage and pharmaceutical lines.
  • Architectural columns and posts, before or after fabrication.

Why polish tube on a line

Hand polishing a long tube is slow and uneven: the grain wanders, pressure varies, and the ends look different from the middle. A centreless line holds the tube at a constant feed against fixed belts, so the grain runs true and the finish is the same at every point. Mill-finish tube from the same supply is polished to order, which means a project's handrail, posts and infill tube all match, and a repeat order next year matches too.

Polished tube goes on to our tube laser, bending and fabrication bays, so a balustrade can be polished, cut, fitted and welded — then re-polished at the joints — in one order.

From your tube to a finished length

  1. Tell us the tube size, wall thickness, length and quantity, and the finish you need — a grit number, a sample or a project reference.
  2. We confirm material and finish on a sample length, and agree end protection and packing.
  3. Tubes run through the line, are inspected under consistent light, and are sleeved or wrapped.
  4. Lengths are bundled for delivery — or cut, bent and fabricated in the same order.

Frequently asked

01Which finishes are available?
Brushed and satin grain finishes at the usual grit levels, and mirror finish by buffing. The finish is agreed on a sample length before the batch runs.
02Which tube sizes can be polished?
Round tube across the usual handrail, furniture and process sizes; square and rectangular section is polished on a separate flat-face line. Size limits are confirmed against your enquiry.
03Can you polish tube that is already welded into a frame?
The line is for straight lengths. Frames and assemblies are hand-polished in our finishing shop after fabrication, matching the line finish on the straight members.
04Do you supply the tube as well?
Yes. Stainless steel tube and pipe are drawn from our own supply and polished to order, so one enquiry covers material and finish.
05Can polished tube be PVD-coated?
Yes. Brushed or mirror-polished tube is a standard base for PVD gold, bronze and black, and both processes run in the same building.
